This establishment is one of a select number of funeral homes in the Pittsburgh area who meet the criteria for providing green funeral service by the Green Burial Council; a tax-exempt, nonprofit organization working to encourage environmentally sustainability in the field of funeral service. Our green package allows for a funeral to take place without the use of toxic and non-biodegradable materials/chemicals.

Our green package allows for a funeral to take place without the use of toxic and non-biodegradable materials/chemicals. It includes our services for body preparation, shelter, transportation, and the filling out of all necessary documentation, permits and certificates. A burial container, which can be either a biodegradable casket or shroud, is available at an additional cost, or as part of another package.

Four Point Bamboo Casket: $1395
Our Four-Point Bamboo Coffin is a natural, biodegradable burial option that features a fully lined, natural unbleached cotton interior and matching pillow. The Four-Point Bamboo Coffin is suitable for identification, viewing and services followed by burial.
Penn Pine: $1150
The Penn Pine is an all wood constructed casket that is hand-crafted in the Pittsburgh area specifically for green burial. (An oversized unit is also available for those weighing over 300 lbs, the cost for the oversize casket is $1495.)
Burial Shroud: $463
The standard burial shroud includes four handles for carrying and also has a sewn in board for stability. (Maximum weight is 250lbs.)
Eco-friendly Casket: $463
The simplest of the eco-friendly caskets is this fully bio-degradable wicker themed cardboard casket. Produced with a very simple interior that includes a pillow. (Maximum weight is 250 lbs.)
Trundle: $97
The Trundle is used in the strictest Green burials and in several religious and cultural groups such as Muslim, Hindu, and Native American. The trundle measures 78″ x 25″ and is constructed from eastern white pine. Must be used in conjunction with a burial shroud.
Penn Forest Natural Burial Park
Penn Forest Natural Burial Park is Pennsylvania’s first exclusively green burial ground and is committed to creating a beautiful burial park where nature is at the forefront. Penn Forest is located 13 miles northeast of downtown Pittsburgh on 32 acres in Penn Hills (close to Oakmont and Verona).
