Quinton "Quint" E. Shrader

Quinton "Quint" Shrader, born July 4, 1937, passed away November 14th, 2025 peacefully surrounded by his family, who loved him dearly. He was the son of the late Glenn C. Shrader and Hilda Ann Claypool Shrader. Born and raised in Springdale, Pennsylvania, Quint - or Fishing Pap, as he was known to his grandchildren - lived a life built on hard work, simple pleasures, and devotion to the people he loved most: his family. A proud carpenter with Local Union No. 333 in New Kensington, he spent decades laying hardwood floors in homes and buildings. But what he truly built was a legacy of love, reliability, and steady presence. You could always count on him - whether it was showing up to every event, helping his kids with a project, or dropping everything at a moment's notice and pulling into the driveway in his signature blue jeans, flannel shirt, and camo hat if he knew you needed him. He wasn't loud or showy, just steady and dependable - rain or shine. He found joy in life's simple pleasures: hunting, fishing, watching old Westerns, listening to '50s music, attending his grandchildren's sporting events, and enjoying a banana split from Glen's Custard. As long as he had a sweet treat, someone to visit, a reason to go hunting or fishing, or a TV remote in his hand, he was happy. Quint was as stubborn as he was sweet, always there with a quiet smirk or teasing remark. Even when he grumbled, there was kindness underneath it. In time, "I love you" became "I love you more" - a simple change in phrase that said everything he never needed to explain. Home, to him, was never a single place but wherever his family was. And if he wasn't with his children or grandchildren, he was at the place he loved most - camp. When he'd say, "Meet me at the rock," everyone knew exactly where to go. More than a landmark at camp, it became a symbol of who he was: steady, dependable, and always there, waiting. He is survived by his children - Robin (Jonathan) Howland, Christine (Wayne) Montgomery, and Quinton (Amy Jo) Shrader; six grandchildren - Kenneth (Dakota) Stritzinger, Kaitlyn Howland, Kylie (Jonathan) Battles, Koree Lattner, Quinton Shrader, and Landen Shrader; his five great-grandchildren; and his twin brother, Clinton Shrader. Quint was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Hilda Ann Shrader; stepmother, Virginia Shrader; sisters, Carol Cooney, Gloria Rae, and Gail Boyd; and brothers, Rodney Shrader and Stanley G. Shrader. We will forever remember the lesson he taught us all - to show up for the ones you love. Pap, please know how grateful we are for you, how much we miss you, and most importantly, that we love you more. We'll see you at the rock. A private family service will be held to honor Quint's life, entrusted to Thomas M. Smith Funeral Home, Blawnox, PA, with burial to follow at Lakewood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that those wishing to honor Quint's memory do so by spending time with their loved ones - just as he always did.
