Patty Jo Campbell

Patty Jo Campbell, age 66, of Lower Burrell, passed away unexpectedly on January 22, 2026, at West Penn Hospital. Born on May 30, 1959, in Kittanning, PA, Patty was the cherished daughter of the late Devere and Sylvia (Pearson) Carlson. She grew up in Apollo, PA, and was a proud graduate of Apollo Ridge High School. Patty's resilience shone brightly through her courageous battle with cancer. Patty found joy and purpose in knitting. Her talent and generosity knew no bounds; she crafted hundreds of Afghans, each a tapestry of care and compassion. These beautiful creations were not only gifts to friends and family but also served as a means to support countless charitable events. Her Bassett Hounds brought her endless happiness, as did her fondness for Mickey Mouse, trips to Erie, and spontaneous day trips. However, nothing compared to the delight she took in attending events that involved her beloved grandson, Drake. Patty's family was her world, and she was the heart of theirs. She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion as the beloved wife of William Campbell for 47 years, loving mother to her son, Scott Campbell and daughter, Sarah Akins (Campbell), and mother-in-law to Chad Akins. Her grandson, Drake Akins, was the greatest joy of her life, a sentiment she shared with everyone she met. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Tegtmeier, and brothers, Ralph Carlson, Victor Carlson, and Rex Carlson. Her father-in-law, William M. Campbell, along with many adoring nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends, will continue to cherish the memories they shared with Patty. She was preceded in death by her sister Bonnie Carlson, niece Sherry Tegtmeier, nephews Lee and Alex Carlson, brother-in-law Frank Tegtmeier, sister-in-law Jennifer Stewart, and mother-in-law Mary Jane Campbell. A memorial service to celebrate Patty's life will be held on January 29, 2026, at 4:30 p.m., at the North Apollo Church of God. Please feel free to wear something with Mickey Mouse or Bassett Hounds on it. Her life was a gift to all who knew her, and her memory will be honored with love and joy, just as she would have wanted.
