Mildred M. Siejk

Mildred "Millie" Marie Siejk August 2, 1930 - February 5, 2022 Mildred "Millie" Marie Siejk, 91, of Shaler Township, sadly lost her battle with Alzheimer's disease on February 5, 2022. She was born on August 2, 1930, daughter of the late Carl and Myrtle Wurst. Millie was the youngest of 10 siblings and was the final survivor. She enjoyed being a caregiver for children most of her life and was thought of as one of the family by many. In recent years, the highlight of her days was going to watch her granddaughters play softball. Millie (aka Ma) truly was their biggest fan and was an iconic figure on the sidelines. She was well known and loved by all of the softball families, as she would share her lollipops with everyone. When it came to her children's friends, Millie's house was everyone's home away from home, with her homemade potato pancakes, and chicken with spaghetti, to sleepovers on her porch, friends were always welcome anytime, day or night. She was very active her entire life. She enjoyed planting flowers, taking walks with her family, going for car rides, and just being outdoors. Millie was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Joseph F. Siejk, sisters Rose O'Leary, Gertrude Martin, Mitzie Heidekamp, Annamae Heller, Elsie Miles, Helen Wurst, and brothers Carl Wurst, Albert Wurst, and Edwin Wurst. She was a beloved mother to her children, Debra Scott, Daniel Siejk, and Diana Guiste (Patrick). Millie (Ma) was also a cherished grandmother to Abby and Hannah Guiste, Shannon Gerst (William,Jr.), Nicole Busch (Robert IV), John Scott (Danielle), Matthew Scott, Daniel Siejk, Jr., and Tara Smith. She was also a great grandmother to Connor, Camryn, Liam, Emersyn, and Eden Gerst; Rylie, Brynn, and Whitley Busch; and Lincoln Scott. She was also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Sunday, Feb. 20, 2022 from 4pm until the time of a memorial service at 7:30pm at the Thomas M. Smith Funeral Home & Crematory Ltd., 930 Center Ave. Pittsburgh, PA 15238 (Blawnox). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mildred's name to the Alzheimer's Association (www.act.alz.org), Animal Friends (www.thinkingoutsidethecage.org), or directly to the family to offset funeral costs.
