Lawrence R. Yurchick

Lawrence Robert Yurchick, 74, of Oakmont, PA, passed away peacefully in his home on August 2, 2025. A proud Vietnam War veteran, dedicated family man, and long-time member of the 7th Street Sportsman's Club, Larry's life was defined by his love for his family and friends. Larry was born on December 31, 1950, in New Kensington, PA to Helen Groncki and John Yurchick. He lived his childhood in Springdale, PA. and graduated from Ken High, Class of 1968. He served in the United States Army for two tours during the Vietnam War with distinction, earning the Bronze Star, the Air Medal, and the Purple Heart. His bravery and sacrifice during this time earned him respect and recognition, but Larry was never one to seek attention for his service. After returning from his military service, Larry spent over 35 years working as a Locomotive Engineer for Consolidated Rail (ConRail), which later became Norfolk Southern, where he retired in 2011. He was a reliable, hardworking man who always put others first. He approached his work with the same dedication he had in every aspect of his life. Larry was also a proud member of the 7th Street Sportsman's Club, where he built lasting friendships and enjoyed the company of fellow club members. Larry was someone full of laughter who lived life to its fullest to have no regrets. He was someone who could always captivate the attention of the room and find the bright side of any situation. In addition to his parents, Larry is preceded in death by his beloved wife Paulette Yurchick; sister, Barbara Yurchick; and brother, Robert Yurchick Larry's family was the center of his world. Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Amy (Christopher) Boomhower, Christopher (Rebecca) Yurchick, Michael (Lindsay) Yurchick; his grandchildren, Hannah Boomhower, Rachel Boomhower, Leah Yurchick, Meadow Yurchick, Tyler Yurchick, and Willow Yurchick; his stepchildren with Paulette, Brent (Kara) Isaac, and Samantha Isaac; grandchildren, Madalyn Isaac, and Riley Isaac; three siblings, Ronnie (Lann) Yurchick, Phyllis Bargerstock, and John (Cathy) Yurchick. He is also survived by former wife, Priscilla Yurchick, and his loving cat, Lamby. He was a devoted father and grandfather, always eager to offer his wisdom, guidance, and love. He will be remembered for his unwavering support, his sense of humor, and his deep love for those who were lucky enough to call him family. In addition to his immediate family, Larry leaves behind a legacy of friendship, loyalty, and service. His passing marks the end of an era for those who knew him, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all whose lives he touched. The family will hold a private service. Rest in peace, Larry.
