Karen E. Wickham

Karen Ellen Wickham "Red" Age 81, of Verona, Pa. passed away on Saturday, July 15th, 2023. Beloved wife of 44 years to the late Scott Clarence Wickham Sr., mother of the late Margaret Louise and surviving son, Scott Clarence Wickham Jr. Daughter of the late Frank and Margaret Gorick, sister to the late Christina M. Klass. Survived by nephews, Daniel (Judy Eakin) Reardon and Douglas (Debbie) Reardon, great nieces and nephews. She will be missed very much by Scott's fiancée Michelle Hickey and her children Bryan, Matthew, Joseph, and Maria. She enjoyed her new family, gifts with Bryan, jokes with Matthew, 'My boy Joey', and 'Farmer Brown' Maria who tends to her animals. She will be fondly remembered by neighbors and friends alike. Joe and Lorraine Skerl, Bill Arndt, Judy Lawyer, Joe Roccasano, Mark and Lisa Love and the girls. Many people knew Red because she had the greatest sense of humor, always joking and having a good time. She was also very much involved in the family business of Scot Automotive that was based in Oakmont for 26 years. Karen also worked at many restaurants and businesses in and around Penn Hills, Verona, and Oakmont. One of my great memories of mom was driving down to get a Tomanetti's pizza in Oakmont. Mom's daily driver was a red 1967 Cadillac convertible. On the summer nights when she'd reach for that chrome handle to unlock the roof, that meant I could release mine, and she'd hit the button to power down the roof. That was pretty magical for an 8 year old. The family vacations with mom and dad were always memorable. Dad, ole blood hound nose, as mom called him, would find us interesting things to do and see with just a loose knit plan. A loving mother, always ready to give of her self for Scott Jr. and Margie. She did her best to hang in there after the tragic loss' of Margie in 1980, her mother in 1983, a nephew in 1999, her husband in 2003, and her sister in 2005. We will miss you very much mom. The last two and a half years Michelle and I spent taking care of you were a blessing. Every morning when I'd come down stairs to leave for work, you'd be waiting on me with a smile and say, "Good morning, have a good day, and I love you. Now go make the donuts". I love you too mom, you were the best. "Love you to the moon and back". Karen will be laid to rest at the Oakmont-Verona Cemetary.
