Joseph A. Sasso

Joseph A. Sasso, Jr., age 54, of Richland Twp., passed away unexpectedly on July 21, 2026. Cherished husband of Jamie Ruggeri; devoted father of Aviana and Lena Sasso; loving brother of Edward (Melissa) Sasso, Lisa (Dan) Rogers and Jake (Allison) Sasso; son of the late Joseph Sr. and Sharon Sasso; uncle of the late Bailey Sasso; son in law of Jimmy and Ve Ruggeri; he also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Joe was a proud alumnus of The University of Michigan and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He had a distinguished engineering career spanning nearly thirty years. Over the last twelve years he worked at CDR Maguire Engineering, where he most recently served as the Chief Operating Officer. As a respected leader and mentor to many, Joe made lasting contributions to the field and the people who had the privilege of working alongside him. He was an avid golfer, runner, and car enthusiast, as well as a loyal Michigan football fan, recently taking his family to experience a game at "The Big House." Among his many interests, there was nothing he cared about more than being a devoted husband to his wife Jamie and doting father to his two daughters, Aviana and Lena. Not a single concert, cross-county, track, or swim meet passed without Joe in the stands, on the sidelines, or in the audience cheering on his girls. He frequently ran alongside them during their Girls on the Run races. He treasured spending quality time with his daughters, whether it was watching the latest Marvel movie or helping them build countless Lego sets. As a family, Jamie, Joe, Aviana, and Lena took many special vacations and trips over the years, including their cherished annual two weeks in Hilton Head Island on their summer vacation. He will be remembered for his genuine selflessness and unwavering dependability, always going above and beyond for the people he loved. Joe's kind and loving spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Viewing will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2026 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Thomas M. Smith Funeral Home & Crematory Ltd; 930 Center Avenue Blawnox, PA, 15238. Funeral mass will be on Monday, July 27, 2026 at 10:30 am, in Christ the King Parish, St. Edward Church.
