Frank G. Popovich

Frank G. Popovich, lovingly known as "Sonny" to his family in his younger years, passed away on April 3, 2026. He was a longtime resident of Allison Park, Pennsylvania, where he lived for over 65 years after being raised in Lawrenceville, Pennsylvania. Frank was the beloved husband of Eleanor (Conrad) Popovich, with whom he shared 66 years of marriage. Together, they built a life centered on love, family, and unwavering commitment. He was a devoted father to Susan (Keith) Spitznagel, Joe and Lynn Popovich. Frank was a proud and loving grandfather to grandchildren: Daniel, Kristine, and Stephen Spitznagel. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren—Juliet, Elliot, and Madden Spitznagel, who brought him immense joy. He was also survived by Grandaughter Karli (Popovich) Burgess and great-granddaughter Stella Burgess of Georgia. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Margaret (Ed) Ellermeyer, and was a caring uncle to his nephew, Edward (Maureen) Ellermeyer, and niece, Kristen (Michael Rose) Ellermeyer, as well as four lovely great-nieces; Chloe and Katie Ellermeyer as well as Riley and Tessa Rose He was preceded in death by his parents, Anna (Marlovits) Popovich and Frank J. Popovich and Mary (Yesko) Popovich , as well as his grandmother Theresa Popovich, and his dogs, Rusty, Lindy, McCloud, Timmy, Sarris, and cat, Fuzzy. Frank proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army and carried that sense of dedication and service throughout his life. He found great joy in creative pursuits such as photography, videography, painting, drawing, and various arts and crafts. He especially loved making others smile and laugh by creating and sharing JibJabs. He also had a deep love for animals and his dog, Lucky. Frank will be remembered not only as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and great uncle but also as a kind presence in the lives of others. He was known for his warmth toward strangers, his generosity as a neighbor, and the genuine care he showed to those around him. His kindness, creativity, and love left a lasting impression on all who knew him. A Celebration of Life service will be held at St. Mary's Church in Glenshaw, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at 10:30 AM, with interment to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Frank's memory will live on in the hearts of his family and all who were fortunate enough to know him!
