Edward Jay Brandon

Edward "Ed" Jay Brandon (85) of New Kensington, PA died peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, June 14, 2023. He was born on May 18, 1938 in Indiana, PA. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Sylvia "Marleen" (King) Brandon of New Kensington, PA, originally from Buckhannon, WV; and his five children: son, Michael and Christine (Farkas) Brandon of Lower Burrell, PA; son, Jeffrey and Robin (Heninger) Brandon of Hunker, PA; daughter, Shelley and Daniel Capanzzi of New Kensington, PA; daughter, Tammy and Jeffrey Saccomani of Fort Myers, FL; and daughter, Jamie Gonzales of New Kensington, PA. He was known as "Bub" and adored by his 12 grandchildren: Nickolas Guhl; Ryan Beam; Rachael (Brandon) Smith & her husband, Jeffrey; Stephanie (Saccomani) Rorke; Scott Brandon and his wife, Kristen; Shane Brandon; Vincent Saccomani and his wife, Malorie; Anthony Beam; Candice Irish; Joshua Gonzales; Alexander Gonzales; and Nia Beam; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He retired as a supervisor from the New Stanton Volkswagen plant. He was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1974, and he attended the Lower Burrell Congregation, where he served as a ministerial servant. He loved his God, Jehovah, and the ministry work. He preached to his neighbors about God's promise of a paradise earth in a variety of settings throughout his 50 years of faithful service. He became re-enrolled as a full-time minister during COVID and zealously engaged in calling his neighbors and writing letters of encouragement nearly every day for the past 3 years on Zoom. He was witty, loved to crack a joke, and was quick with a funny story to get you laughing with him. He was warm, welcoming, and caring; and he and Marleen made many, many dear friends, not only in Western PA, but also in Buckhannon, WV and Fort Myers, FL where they also lived for several decades. He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Brandon, Sr.; his mother, Edna (Shank) Lydic; his stepfather, Meade Lydic; and his three siblings: Larry Brandon, Robert Brandon, Jr., and Jane Sokol. A memorial service will be held at 3:00pm, with a video presentation prior, on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 890 Stevenson Blvd., New Kensington, PA 15068.
