Carol Lynn Zimmerman

Carol L. Satterfield Zimmerman, 79, of Valencia, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Detroit, Michigan, Carol moved to Pittsburgh at the age of 13, where she built a beautiful life and lasting memories. She was a proud graduate of The Ellis School, where her love of learning and curiosity blossomed. Carol was preceded in death by her beloved parents, William and Betty Jane Satterfield; her brothers, Robert and James Satterfield; her devoted husband, Frank Zimmerman; and her cherished daughter, Tammy Boyle Stuart. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her daughters, Tracey Goodrich, Kristen (Jimmy) Dowd, and Megan (Greg) Georges; her adored grandchildren, Hunter (Becca) Goodrich, Taylor Goodrich, Oliver (Audrey) Dowd, Harper Dowd, Robert Brigham, and Alexis (Tyler) Schmittou; and her treasured great-grandchildren, Zachariah Cook, Maverick Schmittou, and the soon-to-arrive Baby Girl Goodrich. Carol also leaves behind several loving nieces and a nephew. Carol and her husband Frank owned and operated Kountz & Rider, a retail store originally located in Shadyside and later in Downtown Pittsburgh. Several years after Frank's passing, Carol made the difficult decision to close the store but refused to remain idle. She devoted her time and energy to the Northern Tier Library, where she began as a volunteer and later took on a part-time position. Her dedication and passion led her to become the President of the Friends Committee, where she continued to make a lasting impact. Carol's love for reading, her skill with puzzles, and her remarkable green thumb were only surpassed by the joy she found in her family. Her happiest moments were when her entire family gathered together, a tradition she ensured lived on through the creation of "Grammie Camp." Started 24 years ago, Grammie Camp became an annual event filled with laughter, games, and cherished memories for her children, grandchildren, and eventually, her great-grandchildren. Fittingly, it was at her final Grammie Camp that Carol took her last breath, surrounded by the love and joy she had cultivated over the years. Per Carol's wishes, there will be no visitation or formal funeral service. The family will hold a private graveside service to honor her memory. Carol's warmth, love, and unwavering devotion to her family will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
