Margaret A. "Peggy" Plunkett Laird Age 84, of Regent Square, died on Wednesday, April 1, 2020. She was the wife of the late Edwin C. Laird; mother of Jean Michaux, Maureen, Nancy Madzia, Maria Conklin (Douglas), Kevin (Paula), Kirstan Thomas, Brian (Debra) and Elaine Curtiss (Scott); grandmother of 17; great-grandmother of 6; sister of Nancy Evans (Robert) and Susan Plunkett; and a daughter of Edith and Gerald Plunkett. A selfless, compassionate and giving woman, Peggy, was thoroughly dedicated to her family. Wife to deceased husband Edwin "Red" Laird and proud mother who derived great joy from her eight children, 17 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. A nurse and health care professional for nearly 50 years, Peggy then helped with causes close to her heart during her retirement years. Among other initiatives she was instrumental in establishing two free-care health clinics, volunteered regularly at Blessings in a Backpack and with the Ladies of Charity. Peggy was an avid reader, gardener and traveler. She was a cherished mother, faithful friend and mentor to all. Her life will be celebrated with a service at a later date.
