John L. Baker Sr. Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

John L. Baker, Sr. Passed away on Friday, February 26, 2021. He was the son of the late Jacob Roy and Florence M. Baker and was born in Tunnelton, PA. John graduated from Saltsburg High School and worked forty years in banking starting with Keystone Bank and retiring from Standard Bank. He was a member of many organizations including the Chamber of Commerce, Lions, VFW and Kiwanis. He enjoyed playing 55+ softball with the Hillers, bowling and his favorite, Golf. John and Rose spent 28 years camping at Slippery Rock Campground where they met many wonderful friends. They also enjoyed vacations in Rehoboth Beach and Myrtle Beach. John was a kind, soft spoken man with a playful sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Rose Chobanian-Baker; and his son, John L. Baker, Jr.; and grandson, Wyatt Weaver; also step-son, Anthony (Sue) Chobanian; step-grandson, Michael (Elysia) Chobania; and great-grandchildren, Brennan and Isla Claire Chobanian; brothers, James (Elenor) Baker and Rodney Baker; sister-in-law, Thelma and Janis; and various nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents; and his first wife, Ethel Jane Baker who passed on February 12, 2021; and siblings, Jacob Roy, Jr., Gerald, Ralph and Emily Joan Emciso. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org). His family would like to thank the nurses at Allegheny Valley Hospital, Belair and AHN Hospice for their kind compassionate care.
