Diane B. Baranowski Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Diane Bertha Baranowski of Springdale, PA died on May 12th at age 66. She was born Diane Micklick on May 23, 1955 to Edward Micklick and Stella (Smith) Micklick. She battled breast cancer for 12 years, achieving remission twice before it moved to her intestines. She is survived by two sons, John, 34, a teacher in Fairfax, Virginia, and Adam, 29, a geotechnical technician in Los Angeles, California, an older sister, Helen Oley in Elizabeth, PA. Diane graduated from Springdale High School in 1973 and from Mercyhurst College in 1977, and got a Master's degree from Chatham College in 2008. She was many things in the community: Librarian at Springdale Free Public Library, Special Education Aide at Springdale High School, and a Recreational Assistant at Life Pittsburgh, was involved at the Springdale Presbyterian Church, the Springdale United Methodist Church, and the Monroeville Assembly of God. More importantly, she was a fantastic mother and friend, seamstress and crafter, supporter and confidant. She gave of herself even when she didn't have it. Always supported others, made sure everyone else had enough, and never did allow people to repay her - in money or praise. She helped so many people and was an inspiration to all those around her - the strongest person in such a tiny package. Per her wishes, she will be cremated at Thomas M Smith Funeral Home & Crematory, Ltd, and instead of a viewing or funeral, a picnic lunch will be held in her honor at a local park when the weather is warmer.
