Rhona J. Thomas

Rhona Jane Thomas passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 17, 2022 of natural causes at the age of 87. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, Melvin P. "Cubby" Thomas in 2019. Rhona was born on February 28, 1935 in Connellsville, PA and was the daughter of the late Ronald W. Kohl, Sr. and Naomi G. Kohl, and step-daughter of the late Evelyn Kohl. She is also preceded in death by her loving grandmother, Laura Mae Rennicks-Kohl-Atkins and her sister, Patricia (Joseph) White, as well as many close friends. Rhona is survived by her devoted children; Lynn (Joseph) Chilton Sinatra and Paul R. Thomas, her brothers; Ronald W. "Sonny" Kohl, Jr., Frank Kohl, and Evan Kohl, and her grand-daughters; Jennifer L. (Matthew) Thomas-Cunningham and Alyse M. Thomas, along with extended family and friends. Rhona was an amazing woman with the unique ability to make and maintain life-long friendships. Some of these included her grade school "Club" girls, women from the Blawnox Elementary School PTA, her "Card Club", the employees from Cards Plus where she was the manager, and neighbors and friends in Linesville, PA where they had their summer "Camp". She touched the hearts of all who knew her and we were all blessed to have her in our lives. She was also the troop leader for the local Girl Scouts from Brownies to Cadets and had many interests, including: cooking, baking, canning, preserving and jelly making, sewing, knitting, crocheting, numerous crafts, reading novels, going to the movies, and flea markets, to name a few. Many will miss her special homemade jellies and sweet pickles and especially the handmade Christmas ornaments which she gifted all with annually over the past 45 years. She was extremely proud of her children and was especially proud of her cherished grand-daughters for all of their achievements, both academically and in their personal lives. She was the Matriarch of our family and was affectionately known as "Gram". We all miss her more than words can express. We will carry her memory and love in a special place in all of our hearts forever. May she rest in eternal peace. In respecting Rhona's wishes, there was no public visitation or service.
