Patricia H. Fitzgerald

Patricia "Pat" Fitzgerald, age 87, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2026, at Longwood at Oakmont Retirement Community. Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Dick, and sons, John and Timothy. She is survived by their children, Richard (Cathy), Kathleen (Art Rowland), Dennis (Kathleen), and Kevin (Amy Kunkle). The immense pride of her life was her 14 grandchildren, Jocelyn, Erin, Caroline, Tanner, Madeline, Lousia, Mara, Jackson, Aidan, Emma, Connor, Megan, Maren, and Joshua, and great-grandchildren, Nellie, Finn, and Theodore; also her sister, Jeanne Moore. Pat was also preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Margaret Mangold; sister, Lois Pail, and brother, Ronnie. Pat was born and raised in Bloomfield and graduated from Cathedral High School (now Oakland Catholic). She played basketball at Cathedral when women's basketball was played with six players - three offense and three defense. Pat was named to the all-tournament team in the high school girls' tournament at Ormsby in the South Side. Pat began her career at Gulf Oil in 1958, and she remained there until she became pregnant with Rich. In those days, when you became pregnant, you had to quit, so she started her next and favorite career as a full-time mom. Years later, she joined Dick at Fitzgerald Associates and supported the family business until 1994 when they both retired. Pat and Dick were long-time members of Edgewood Country Club and were avid golfers. She also made a hole-in-one! Many rounds of golf were also played in Scottsdale, AZ, where they spent many winters as snowbirds. Pat was passionate about her family, her friends, her faith, and the Pittsburgh Pirates. While Pat was a big Pittsburgh sports fan, her favorite team was the Pirates. In her younger days, she would attend afternoon games with her mom - often on Ladies Day after purchasing seats in a lower-cost section; they would work their way down to the section where her dad, Howard, worked as a long-time usher. Pat was involved in several parishes, whether it was volunteering and fundraising at St. Lawrence O'Toole School or singing in the choir at St. Coleman's. One of her true joys was holding babies at The Children's Home of Pittsburgh. Her faith was a strong foundation of her life. She lived her beliefs with humility and compassion, and it was reflected in the kindness she showed to others and the love she shared with family and friends. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2026. Friends and family will be received from 10 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at Longwood at Oakmont Retirement Community ballroom, 500 Route 909, Verona, PA.
