Geraldine Marie Callaway-McCorkle

On July 10, 1947, Geraldine was the fourth and last child born to Alphonso Delano Callaway and Josephine Bradford Callaway in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She was raised on the Eastside of Pittsburgh. She departed this temporal life in preference to eternal life on October 8, 2025. Geraldine was introduced to Christ at an early age by her father, who served as a Deacon at Mount Ararat Baptist Church where a point of maturity was reached and she developed her own personal relationship with Christ. Through her relationship with Christ she led and inspired her family. Geraldine received her formal education in the Pittsburgh Public School District where she graduated from Westinghouse High School. She was so full of smiles and laughter. That laughter caught William James McCorkle's attention after he mistakenly threw his Kennywood tickets away instead of a gum wrapper. His pain and frustration was her amusement and her laughter brought them together. Their first date was at Kennywood Amusement Park. Geraldine and William were married on November 12, 1965. In May 1966, they welcomed a daughter and named her Tina Marie McCorkle; and then a son in 1968 and named him William James McCorkle, Jr. After starting her family, Geraldine went on to pursue her passions and personal goals. Her love for literature led her to further her education, and she received a degree in psychology from Community College of Allegheny County. Her goal was to become a psychologist. While helping to care for her father, she developed a heart to serve and care for people. Geraldine dedicated time serving patients at St. Margaret's Hospital. Additionally, she served the community at Dumais Baptist Church, St. James Church and Silver Lake Commons. She was honored and awarded for her outstanding community service. Geraldine loved serving the community but was very devoted to her family. Her family was everything to her. As she would say, "through the good, the bad, and the ugly." She was always there. She kept everyone connected. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alphonso and Josephine Callaway; siblings: Ernest, Thelma Lenoir (Jay), and Elver Farris; grandson, Michael McCorkle; nephew, Augustus Gray; nieces: Brenda Parkman, Rachel Bush; and great-nephew, Domonique Marshall. Geraldine leaves to mourn her memory, her children: Tina and William; three grandchildren: Ja'ree, Ja'nae and Anwar; seven great-grandchildren: Taliah, Thomas, Jade, Tamia, Derrion, Deonray and Juel.
