Francis Patrick Sullivan Jr.

Francis Patrick Sullivan Jr., age 80, of McCandless, died on August 16, 2026. Born January 12, 1946, in Saint Louis, Missouri, he was the son of the late Francis and Mary (Lyndon) Sullivan Sr. and the loving husband of the late Patricia Ann (Dimond) Sullivan for 46 years. Francis graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering. Following graduation, he served his country through the Navy ROTC and went on to become an Ensign in the United States Navy. After his military service, Francis began a long and respected career with Duquesne Light, where he worked as a system planning engineer until his retirement in 2007. He approached his work with intelligence, reliability, and a strong sense of responsibility. Outside of work, Francis found great joy in his lifelong interest in trains and railroading. He was an active member of the Ohio Valley Lines Model Railroad Club, where he shared his enthusiasm and knowledge with others who appreciated the hobby. He especially loved train watching with his children and taking day trips to the East Broad Top Railroad, creating memories that his family will cherish always. Francis was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend whose life was marked by steady dedication, quiet strength, and a deep love for his family. Francis is survived by his children, Frank Sullivan, Patricia Giese, and Sean Sullivan; grandchildren, Virgina (Stanley) Morris, Ann Giese, Mike (Deanna) Kavick, Jake Gillam, and Reiley Sullivan; great-grandchildren, Lillian McClemens, Michael McClemens II, Jackson Fisel, Noah Gillam, and Charlotte Morris; and sister, Mary Blanche. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, and his sister, Maggie Sullivan. His family would like to thank the staff at UPMC Family Hospice for the care they gave Francis in his final days. Their compassion and support brought comfort to him and to those who loved him.
