Florence Ruth Thorhauer

Florence "Flo" R. Thorhauer, 87, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on June 14, 2025, under tender hospice care from Monarch Hospice at The Seasons of Saxonburg personal care home, surrounded by love and compassion of all that loved her deeply. Flo spent most of her life in New Kensington, Pennsylvania, and was known for her fierce love, radiant smile, and joyful laughter. Though she faced many challenges in life-including blindness, cancer, and the effects of aging-she never let them dim her spirit. Flo lived with an open heart, always seeing the good in others and offering her time, her ear, and her love to anyone in need. She worked in the food industry at different venues throughout her life and customers loved to have her wait on them and serve them with the merriest of hearts. She trusted fully in Jesus as her Savior and shared that love freely. Her faith in Him reflected His love in all she did. Flo is survived by her beloved son Barry Peterson, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom live in Seattle, Washington, and cherished her deeply even from across the miles. She is also survived by her brother, Edwin "Robert" Clowes, along with nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of treasured friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Clyde Thorhauer; her parents, Dorthea and Edwin Clowes; and her brothers, Ernest John "Jack" Clowes and Raymond "Bud" Clowes. One of Flo's dearest relationships was with Lori Daniska, who met Flo at age 16 while working at Taco Bell in New Kensington. That moment sparked a treasured 28-year friendship filled with love, wisdom, and deep connection. Flo became a second grandmother to Lori's four children-Carson, Peyton, Brooks, and Sierra-who lovingly called her their "grandmother Flo". Flo may not have had many material possessions, but she had an abundance of heart to give. Her legacy is one of kindness, resilience, faith, and unwavering friendship. She will be missed deeply by all who knew her, but we rejoice knowing that she is now in the presence of her Savior Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:8. I know she lives on in Glory because she believed and had faith in Jesus, not by her accomplishments in life but Christ alone-John 3:16! Amen To God be the glory.
