Estella M. Smith

Estella "Toots" Smith (Witmer) Of Sarver, formerly Harrison Township, PA passed away February 16, 2018. Estella was born on March 7, 1936 to the late Nora K. Witmer (Malee) and Harry Witmer in Black Lick, Pennsylvania. She was the oldest of eleven children. Estella graduated from Arnold High School in 1953 and worked for 43 years at National Torch Tip in Aspinwall. In 1956 she married the love of her life, Monte R. Smith, who preceded her in death on December 12, 2009 after 53 years of marriage. Aside from her husband and children, her biggest joy in life was to gather the family for holidays and events at her home to cook and bake for everyone. She baked cakes and cookies for all who knew her and many a celebration had her beautiful cakes as the centerpiece of the party. Estella is survived by her three children, Kathryn W. (Mike) Stanton with whom she made her home in Sarver, Monte R. (Nancy) Smith, Tarentum, and Mark R. (Debby) Smith, Sarver; grandchildren, Adam (Heather) Findon, Benjamin (Amanda) Findon, Michael (Kristin Nahrwold) Stanton, Cory (Bethany) Smith, Casey (Andy) Huss, Becky (Joey) Ghabour, and Rachel Mattern; great-grandchildren, Brady Findon, Makayla, Bailey and Riley Huss, Nathan McCartney, Lily and Gavin Ghabour, and Alyssa and Aaden Alcorn. Her surviving brothers and sisters include, Vicky (Tom) Smerkar of Venus, PA; Robert (LaMae) Parry, Sacramento, CA; Sandy Steffey, Kathy Witmer, Donna (Bill) Shirley, Ben Witmer (all of Blacklick, PA) and Robert (Edna) Witmer of Cherry Tree. Also surviving Estella are her friends and sisters-in-law, Alyce Gordon, Tarentum, Martha Lutz, Freeport and Audrey Corso, Harrison Twp. Along with her husband, Monte, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Dick Witmer (January 27, 2018), Harry Witmer, Ricky Witmer and Walter Witmer; and her lifetime friend, Joan Brzezinski of Tarentum. A private celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at the family home.
