Charles R. Rosewell

Charles "Bud" Ronald Rosewell, a U.S. Army veteran and lifelong pillar of kindness, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2024. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on February 16, 1940, Bud graduated from Schenley High School in 1958 and honorably served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era, where, as a Flash Ranging Crewman, he played a crucial role in military ordnance operations before transferring to the United States Army Reserve. His military service exemplified his dedication to his country during a pivotal time in history. Following his military service, Bud committed himself to the coal mining industry, where he built a commendable career. He served as a Division Safety Supervisor and Trainer, as well as a Section Foreman in underground mining methods. He monitored environmental conditions and led mine inspections, ensuring the highest safety standards for his fellow workers. As a coal miner, Bud served not only his family but also his community and the world, providing energy and essential resources. He took great pride in his profession and the camaraderie shared with his fellow miners. Bud's legacy lives on through the lives he touched, especially his five cherished grandchildren: Courtney, Emily, Ryan, Sidney, and Samantha. He instilled in them strong family values, imparting lessons of love, support, and service that will guide them throughout their lives. Christine and Lynn are proud coal miners' daughters, a testament to the values instilled in them by their parents, Bud and Janet. Bud enjoyed hunting, spending time outdoors, and sharing those experiences with family and friends. Charles "Bud" Ronald Rosewell is survived by his daughters Christine (Keith) Kroner and Lynn (Eric) Szakal; and granddaughters Sidney and Samantha, along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Janet Rosewell, who passed away on December 5, 2021, and by his parents. ----- Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, November 3, at the Thomas M. Smith Funeral Home and Crematory Ltd., 930 Center Avenue, Blawnox, PA 15238. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, November 4, at 10:30 a.m. at Christ the King Parish, St. Edward's Church, 450 Walnut Street, Pittsburgh, PA. EVERYONE IS TO MEET AT CHURCH.
