Bernard G. Mallinder

Bernard "Bernie" Mallinder of Cranberry Twp, PA died peacefully at home on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at the age of 82 after an extended illness. Bernie was born on May 27, 1940 to Eileen and George Mallinder in Pittsburgh, PA. After graduating from Oakmont High School in 1958, he went on to obtain his pharmacy degree from the University of Pittsburgh. Bernie's successful pharmacy career took him to several cities and in 1988, he returned to Pittsburgh where he retired in 2004. Bernie was the "life of the party", always inspiring lively conversation or telling one of his many life stories. Bernie also enjoyed increasing his knowledge by reading or researching just about anything on the internet - he always had the answer. Bernie enjoyed all things outdoors - especially gardening. Being true to his Pittsburgh roots, he was a lifetime avid Pittsburgh sports team fan. Above all, Bernie's greatest joy was in knowing his family are believers in his Savior, Jesus Christ. Bernie married his first wife Janet (Polansky) in 1961. They were classmates together at Oakmont High School. They were happily married for 43 years until Janet's passing in 2004. Together they had three children. Bernie married Jane (Siford) in 2008 with whom he spent his active retirement years. Jane and Bernie enjoyed laughing, gardening, bike riding and babysitting their grand-dogs Chloe and Bella. Bernie is survived by his wife, Jane (Siford). Bernie is also survived by his three children Karen (Kevin) Sweesy, Mark (Monica) Mallinder and Gregg (Beth) Mallinder and their children Mandy(Brett) Kopec, Tara (Matt) Lee, Gina (Justin) Coleman, Christy Mallinder, Julia Mallinder, Tiffany Mallinder and Jonathan Mallinder. Bernie has two great grandchildren, Colton and Remi Coleman. Bernie is also survived by his sister Maureen Nagle and his sister-in-law Geraldine Armstrong and several nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews and many cousins. Jane's children are the late Steven (Diane) Siford, David Siford, Stephanie (JC) Bambach and Daniel (Tyrone) Siford and their children Cole Siford, Todd SIford, Samantha Siford, Brian Bambach and Sean Bambach. Bernie was a member of Allison Park Church in Allison Park PA. Family and close friends are welcome to a Celebration of Life at Futules' Harmar House located at 1321 Freeport Road, Cheswick PA 15024 at 11:00am on Saturday, August 13. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family is recommending a donation to the Salvation Army in his name.
